Writing Center

The specially trained peer consultants of the Vassar College Writing Center meet individually with students to discuss any writing project or assignment. We consult on every stage of the writing process—from inception to revision—to help students craft strong, carefully considered work.
We look forward to talking with students writer-to-writer. Our consultants represent varied academic interests and have experience discussing writing assignments from many fields of study.
Faculty teaching writing-intensive courses can request a designated consultant to work specifically with their students individually and through specially tailored class workshops throughout a semester. Also, our director meets with faculty to consult on the design of writing assignments.
Moreover, we work to support, spotlight, and bring together Vassar’s community of faculty and student writers.
We look forward to talking through your next writing project! One caveat: because we emphasize process writing, we don’t meet with students on the same day their work is due.
The Writing Center is housed in the Learning and Teaching Center, Thompson Library Room 122
Lee Rumbarger, Writing Center director, is in Room 29.
